Summary:Innovation is often considered one of the most important success factors for companies or economic areas. Among a variety of methodologies, including the analysis of innovation systems in general and the search for signals in literature data, one approach stands out from the analytical ones. This paper presents the methodological approach of using science fiction to enrich foresight processes, using the thematic field of the future of innovation. The research question is how science fiction-inspired methodologies differ in their results from non-science-fiction-inspired foresight methodologies. This research contributes to a better understanding of the application of science-fiction-inspired methodologies in foresight and futures studies. JEL Codes: O10, O11, O12
