| Yhteenveto: | The aim of this article is to analyse the epistemic status of the streamer Maxildan, who possessed prior knowledge of the game’s rules during a board game broadcast on Twitch.Tv. More broadly, from the perspective of ethnomethodology and multimodal conversation analysis, we wish to describe how participants’ epistemic statuses are co-constructed in interactions during rule explanation sequences. Our study, based on eight transcribed and commented live stream excerpts, reveals that Maxildan's epistemic status can fluctuate from an epistemic gradient of expert K+ to less expert K-, depending on the co-players’ questions. The analysis highlights the strategic choices made by the streamer to avoid blocking the progression of the game, such as deferring the search for unknown rules. Finally, the results highlight a correlation between changes in epistemic statuses and the temporal dynamics of the game. |
