Thomas Aquinas adds that he is also social. Such an addition means a radical alteration of the Aristotelian proposition. For Aquinas, first of all, the human individual being is part of the social matter understood as multitude. And this matter is ordered by the order of reason in a way which is not immediately political, even if it requires politics as secondary order subordered to the reason.Cairn free access |
