| الملخص: | Lexical study of Afghan / Pashto kinship terms is focused on four words in connection with the practice of levirate among the people of Afghanistan. This custom was recently reinforced due to the particularly uncomfortable situation endured by the Pashtuns, victims of harsh troubles in this part of the world (Pakistan – Afghanistan). The author shows how minimal formal traits act for the natives as mnemonic means, rendering simple a kinship and marriage system puzzling the outsiders.
