This contribution attempts at first to enlighten the universal notion of « paratax » on the basis of a three decades field experience in the Samic domain (specially Northern Sami), then considers the typologically more specific problem of verbo-nominal clauses, taking into account the comparative work done during the same period on the other North-Western branch of the Finno-Ugric family, Finnic languages (specially Finnish). The analysis of these particular clauses, conducted in a text linguistic perspective of information structuring, includes : 1 / the syntactic constraints on these constructions ; 2 / the evolution of this type of construction under the double pression of literacy (which involves a kind of synthetism) and the influence of the (more analytic) neighboring Indo-European models. |
