| Zusammenfassung: | In this paper we will focus on the evolution of four syntactic features specific to Seychelles’ Creole : the two modals kapab and bezwen , the reflexive marker son lekor , the expression of the passive voice by ganny and the complementizer poudir . At a general level, these four processes can be seen as instantiating universal grammaticalization paths. But in a more detailed analysis other factors, above all language contact and literacy, also play an important role. In order to adequately describe the interaction of the factors at work in language change, we will opt for a model of convergence. |
