Περίληψη:The translation of personal pronouns is fairly straightforward. However, sometimes difficulties arise when the source language and the target language do not have the same subcategories. Examples taken from the subcategories of number and gender illustrate the problems that are more frequent when the target language is the more differentiated of the two. The most tricky area is that of register and style, which includes the opposition of formal versus familiar. Norms of standard usage are more subject to change and allow for more individual freedom than number and gender.
