| Resumo: | In June 2021, a strike by women workers at Vertbaudet, a manufacturer of childcare articles, attracted considerable media attention. It took public opinion by surprise, as strikes of this kind might seem outdated. In my opinion, it was a revelation of what can be called a feminist strike. Feminist strikes have been invisible for a long time, but they have nevertheless left their mark on our social history. These women workers questioned the role of women in the workplace, the systematic devaluation of their qualifications, difficult working conditions, low pay and a total lack of career prospects – the fate reserved for millions of women, whose voices were so rarely heard. They also talk about the difficult end of the month, and recall their essential, if not vital, role in their families, for which they are more and more often the sole carers, far from being just a “back-up workforce”. |
