| Gaia: | As generative AI (GenAI) gains in popularity, its impact on professors’ and researchers’ creative activities become ever more apparent. Increasingly, they use GenAI for content co-creation, idea brainstorming, and problem-solving. This growing integration of GenAI represents a major challenge in creating, formulating, and selecting creative and innovative ideas in the academic field. This article mobilizes an exploratory qualitative methodology based on 22 semi-structured interviews with business school professors and researchers, a category of actors for whom GenAI is essential because it can influence their creativity by enabling them to explore new teaching methods or carry out innovative research projects. Three main use cases for GenAI in academia were identified: as an assistant for routine tasks, as a source of inspiration for co-creation, and as an accelerator of knowledge exploration. The study also highlights the deliberate choice some make to not use GenAI, often related to concerns about their creativity. JEL Codes : O33, I23, O31, L86, A29 |
