| 要約: | The history of military dress codes is, above all, characterised by regulatory texts, internal notes, orders, decrees, laws and standards. Yet, it is also filled with illustrations that serve a variety of different – yet intertwined – purposes: some describe, prescribe and proscribe; others encapsulate a moment in time, vulgarise the army and become a tool to promote a military institution and bolster its image. These illustrations help civilians understand what the army is all about and indirectly help strengthen the army’s bond with the nation. This has undoubtedly given rise to many a vocation over time. |
