| Riassunto: | Based on a case study and mobilizing the concept of job crafting, this article intends to contribute to the literature on sustainable employability. We show that individuals can strategically adjust the tasks they perform (task crafting), modify their social interactions (relational crafting) and attribute meaning to what they do (cognitive crafting) to both regulate the intensity of their work in the short term and develop the skills and networks needed to achieve a rewarding career trajectory in the long term. Our discussion of the results puts into perspective the traditional opposition between internal and external employability, particularly when employees’ career paths involve moving from project to project. It also highlights the risks associated with giving individuals excessive responsibility for their own careers. |
