Resumo:From the spirit of charity instilled by the church to social action dictated by the principles of secular solidarity, social work has responded to the orders of political power. Voluntarily or unwittingly, social workers have become politicized; they have responded to injunctions, to social orders. A constant theme being that of social cohesion, but also of public order! Structured by diplomas, by the regulation of social establishments and services, social work seemed depoliticized and reduced to a technical field. But new, more managerial orientations dictated by a liberal economic context, along with a more authoritarian and exclusive political discourse, make social workers fear a loss of meaning, suffering, and professional burnout.
