Descripció
Sumari:The discipline of management science is a relatively young academic field, both in France and internationally. This article seeks to trace its origins and main contours, while also examining its autonomy in relation to other fields and the characteristics of its identity. The authors begin by reconsidering the existence of an academic field specific to management, capable of producing specific knowledge that is not exclusively dependent on other fields with which it may nevertheless be linked. This leads to an analysis of the discipline’s capacity not only to be disseminated and enhanced through transfer and training, but also, and above all, to be itself a creator of scientific knowledge that can be renewed, updated, applied and, in turn, taught. They examine, on the one hand, the challenges of “external” identity in relation to other disciplines and, on the other hand, the challenge of “internal” identity cohesion within the discipline of management. After reflecting on the scientific foundations of the discipline, the processes of knowledge creation and dissemination are analyzed. The argumentation leads to the confirmation of the identity dimension of the discipline, while underlining the need for its articulation with other scientific fields, especially those most closely related to it.
