Summary:After reviewing a number of useful notions for understanding trauma linked to sexual violence, the author describes support provided to two incest victims. She shows how important it is for Gestalt therapists to be attentive to their own self and to “their” projective identifications. In the situations presented, seeing and understanding bodily and emotional dysfunctions help lead to awareness of what was being replayed in interactions. In this way, patients can gradually reconnect with their experiences and regain a living body.
