Beskrivelse
Summary:Based on the work of Edvard Munch and the figures of distress that he represents on his canvases, we will attempt to analyze the status of the silent cry that crosses the melancholic landscape. In the hollow of this inaudible cry that opens a gap in which the subject is consumed, a dead presence is revealed. The broken, ruined voice that he lets us hear could lead us to suppose that an incorporation of the voice of the dead mother would have taken place. Petrified between life and death, the melancholic would be the eternal mourner of a lost voice. The early eclipse of this voice would thus have hindered the psychic constitution of an Other supposed to hear, leaving the subject to experience himself in the drama of a cry that remained unanswered. It is then the subject’s own body that would become a sounding board for this dead voice, testifying to the impossible mourning and the pure pain of existing in which he is lost.
