| Crynodeb: | Based on an analysis of around one hundred central government assessments of finalised draughts of local urban planning documents drawn up by local authorities (municipalities and intermunicipal districts), this article analyses the characteristics of the regulation of urban sprawl by central government departments in France. The assessments cover a period from 2014 to 2021, and their study enables us to identify changes in the oversight exercised in three mainly rural territories: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes and Drôme. The article describes a phase of regulatory transition during which anticipation of the No Net Land Take policy increases the vigilance of civil servants responsible for overseeing the land sobriety of urban planning documents, but also gives local authorities new room for manoeuvre. |
