| Sažetak: | The aim of this article is to show that we cannot care for urban nature without taking an interest in the well-being of citydwellers, because there is an intense connection and feedback loop between the two. First, the concept of well-being is defined. Surveys carried out in French cities since 2015 reveal which factors French citydwellers consider important to their well-being, in particular natural amenities. Such surveys also reveal the restrictive meaning that people assign to the term “nature”. We then explain why there is a need to rethink the care given to nature as a whole in the urban environment, and to place it at the centre of urban planning and concepts of society. We then highlight the social, political and environmental issues at work and the need for a change in attitude in French society. Finally, we put forward some proposals for greater attention to be paid to the living world as a whole and consider the possible contribution of virtue ethics. |
