| Streszczenie: | Death is inherent in human life. It may come sooner or later according to the constitution of each individual and the incidents of life. But the conception of death in the Republic of the Congo seems to be quite different; it is instead linked to witchcraft. For witchcraft is the absolute expression of evil. In this universe, death and witchcraft are inseparable. Death is caused by witchcraft. Indeed, in a culture where people only believe that they are being persecuted by the other, they see evil everywhere and consult soothsayers and pastors to try to know the causes of misfortunes and especially of death. Thus, accusations of witchcraft are commonplace. This often leads to family divisions or even acts of violence. Everyone here is everybody’s sorcerer. |
