Resumo:The training of professional caregivers and doctors must include an additional dimension at the end of life. Explaining care procedures is no longer enough. Talking, saying, and listening enable quality exchanges, but the technical operations of end-of-life care often relegate the relational approach to the background. Yet, the patient's advance choices and the conscious or unconscious opposition they meet from those close to them lead to conflict. The case of Mrs. G. illustrates this dilemma. To limit the complications of a difficult bereavement, simply communicating information or choices proved insufficient for her. Welcoming the words of the patient and their partner as part of an in-depth relationship brings hope and humanity beyond the definitive cessation of exchanges due to death.
