| Gaia: | This article is a partial response to a request from the Cour des Comptes (the French National Audit Office) to analyze the decline in the number of prospective farmers. By applying an original typology of out-of-family applicants during a mission to complete the diagnosis of installation and transmission in a given region, we have sought to better understand the difficulties of renewing generations of farmers and their support. We highlighted the fact that transferors are often locked into their usual representations, limiting themselves to a simple categorization of family/non-family, whereas by inviting them to distinguish candidates according to their origin and experience through our typology, new support perspectives become possible. |
