| Résumé: | Even if we are witnessing a growing collective awareness of child maltreatment, early childhood is still severely tainted when it comes to the maltreatment suffered by young children. And yet, maltreatment suffered at an early age has an impact on all areas of young children’s development, and on their future. Definitions of child maltreatment, abuse and neglect require a more precise framework than is currently the case in France, so that more scientific work can be carried out and professional practices better adapted. This issue focuses on issues relating to intra-familial maltreatment in early childhood. It examines the categories of maltreatment and their determinants, the singularity of parent-child relationships, and protection systems in place in terms of assessment, screening and support. |
