| Sumario: | Paulin Hountondji's philosophy, beyond its critique of the ambiguities and inadequacies of ethnophilosophy, focuses on the dialectic between philosophy, politics and science. It sees freedom as a condition for their practice in contemporary Africa. It argues for the restitution of fundamental rights to peoples who have been handed over to a regime of “supervised freedom” which imposes “body policing” on populations in order to subjugate them. These insidious political regimes claim to be “revolutionary” or “African democracy”. Hountondji's philosophy thus points the way to the liberation of the theoretical creativity of the peoples of Africa, to the establishment of freedom and critical discussion in the theoretical and practical spheres, making effective the rational act of generating and refuting the most diverse ideas and theories. |
