Description
Résumé:Philosophical thinking is a specific exercise and method alongside other methods specific to other disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. One of its specificities is the search for truth and the critical reflection of the subject of knowledge on the other, on the human world, on the plant and animal nature. Philosophy, through the process of critical thinking and the enunciation of a rational discourse enables those engaged in analytical work to express ways of saying and ways of doing as a category of analysis and practice. It is in this incessant quest for philosophical thought that Paulin Hountondji has been engaged since his first writings in 1969 on the critique of ethnophilosophy. This article aims at showing how, through some of his writings emphasizing the requirement of method and the affirmation of the subjectivity of the thinker, Paulin Hountondi never stopped framing philosophical thought through the universality of reflection and the specific endogenous modes of the philosopher, without abandoning the necessity of the critical approach in the struggle for meaning.
