Resumo:Violence has many faces and can infiltrate various configurations of relational links. This article presents a clinical case drawn from a study investigating the psychological resources of women who have experienced intimate partner violence, based on the chronicity of the abuse endured (FEMATAM study, 2020-2023). This example illustrates how experiencing a violent episode can reactivate a significant part of the subject’s traumatic history and rekindle a latent destructiveness that can only be processed within a specific framework that supports the development of mentalization abilities.
