Yhteenveto:The Papin sisters, together guilty of a dual murder that shocked France in 1933, have inspired and even fascinated writers, filmmakers and psycho-analysts. Christine and Léa Papin would appear to have been the repositories of inter- and trans-generational family traumas that had not been transformed or severed. Separated in early childhood and placed by their mother as domestic servants with the Lancelin family, they would reproduce between themselves the symbiotic interdependence they had previously established with her. The return of the split traumatic experience and the undermining of the symbiosis following separation from their mother are seen as the origin of the savage crime perpetrated by the sisters against their mistress and her daughter.
