Riassunto:In the pediatric hospital setting, we take a specific look at the value of death rituals. There are many issues involved in bereavement, such as the loss of a projected future, social and emotional isolation, stigmatization and social judgment, and the need for ongoing support. Between the individual and the collective, the commemorative ceremony for bereaved families can be described as a secular ritual of socio-community spiritual care. It can help some parents in their search for meaning in the death of their child and in the lives of those left behind ; it establishes and maintains links between the living and their dead child ; it supports the active and resilient part played by families in deploying their relational and personal resources ; and it establishes a relationship of trust between families and caregivers.
