| Zusammenfassung: | This article tries to clarify the concepts of rite, initiation rite, rituals, their history and their meaning today. We notice they are gradually disappearing. Rites and rituals have an important function in social, family and individual organization. This progressive fading might have symptomatic consequences shown in the work of family therapy and teenage therapy. Ordeal behavior, the symbolic void, the weakening in adult status and the harmful effect of the loss of rituals on social cohesion, on a space and time level, invite us to rethink a therapy including the initiation rite. |
