| Riassunto: | The present article aims to explore the concept of the sexual death drive, proposed by Jean Laplanche. Therefore, a bibliographic review was conducted in order to define the concept and its repercussions on psychoanalytic theory. Revisiting Freud’s work, Laplanche distinguishes the concept of the drive from its biological basis, and places the death drive within the field of sexuality. He sees it as the drive par excellence, and reaffirms its close link with the repressed unconscious, the source-object of the drive. |
