Summary:Pierre Michon’s Les Deux Beune owes much to his childish reading of Le Grand Meaulnes in the famous “Rouge et Or” collection, which seems to constitute the violent chromatic programme of his story. Indeed, he proposes a “perverted” rewriting: beneath the beautiful sentimental trappings of the book, so successful, lies a nucleus of primitive night, impossible to domesticate. Many elements are thus diverted or even profaned, by the choice of bestiality, the subversion of Christian symbols, the inversion of values, including that of the idealization of Woman in Le Grand Meaulnes. Here, we are more on the side of Bataille – also a fan of Lascaux – and against a backdrop of annihilation.
