Sažetak:To take account of what in Les Deux Beune is likely to be grotesque, our analysis looks at the entanglement, in the representations, of the human and the animal. The grotesque is seen here as part of satire and a “comic caricature pushed to the fantastic and unreal”. The tension between the laughable and the frightening is the subject of this article. This one, while identifying the characteristics of the hybrid, composite, portrait of the character of Yvonne, emphases the permutation of representations, the image of the carnivorous beast being both projected onto Yvonne, and integrated by the narrator himself. If the laughable is combined with cynicism, could we not see these various uses of a bestiary as an echo of a revival of the grotesque in modern literature ?
