Résumé:In this article, we note that the question of the clitoris has historically been sidelined in both psychoanalytic and philosophical discourse on female jouissance and put forward some of the reasons for this. Although Lacan went beyond outdated Freudian conceptions of female sexuality by theorizing Other or not-all phallic jouissance, we question its logical articulation through the immutability of the phallus as the sole operator of formulas of sexuation. Based on the real of the body, we explore the role that the clitoris, elevated to a symbolic status in the same way as the phallus for the penis, could play in the articulation of this Other jouissance, representing an otherness that is non-complementary to phallic jouissance.
