| Zusammenfassung: | In his World Peace Day message, Pope Francis shared a message of hope as well as a call for action. Far from any technophobic rejection, he recognized the great positive potential of artificial intelligence (AI), but urged the global community to work together and take full responsibility for its regulation, as there is no guarantee that the outcomes of AI will necessarily be beneficial. It is our collective responsibility to acknowledge “the ethical goad” (Laudate Deum 29), to ensure AI “contributes to greater order in human society and greater fraternal communion and freedom.” AI, Pope Francis argues, “ought to serve our best human potential and our highest aspirations, not compete with them.” His message clearly emphasizes the need to resist any reductive view of human life and, more broadly, of reality. We must rise to the challenge of exploring these questions in their multiple dimensions. Discipline: PHILOSOPHY |
