| Résumé: | In 20th century theology, the theological reception of the Council of Nicaea is often ambivalent, particularly when it seeks to overcome the disjunction between the Jesus of history and the Christ of faith. It is certainly easier today to renounce a facile opposition between purity of biblical language and undue Hellenization of Christianity. But reading the theologians of the ancient Church, including Augustine, also invites us to examine the way in which we understand and interpret the place of Nicaea in the history of doctrines. |
