| Zusammenfassung: | The impact of the climate crisis is predicted to be particularly extreme in the Levant area of the Middle East. Increased temperatures and drought threaten Israeli, Palestinian, and Jordanian national security interests. However, the climate crisis could also be a multiplier of opportunities. This paper puts forward such an opportunity: a water-energy exchange between Israel, Palestine, and Jordan to ensure water security, climate resilience, and regional integration. Despite and maybe even because of the Gaza/Israel war that started on October 7th, 2023, it is in the interest of all involved parties to implement a water-energy exchange agreement that includes Palestine to promote regional cooperation and create healthy interdependencies between the parties, which can function to reduce conflict. |
