Izvleček:The dissolution of 9 June 2024 came as a surprise to commentators and doctrine. Announced shortly after the results of the European elections, when the Assembly had been elected a mere two years prior, it was the subject of strong criticism. Many considered it contrary to the “spirit” of a parliamentary system. After an initial - and legitimate - heated reaction, these free remarks aim to provide a legal analysis of both the president’s decision and the criticism voiced against it. It must first be reminded that dissolutions are not homogenous instruments but are rather implemented under very different conditions and a diverse range of circumstances. Consequently, that of 9 June is neither new nor incompatible with the theory of a parliamentary system: it is a strategic dissolution on the President of the Republic’s part. Thus, the objections to this decision reveal something about contemporary constitutionalist dogmatics. Could this not be a consequence of qualifying the Fifth Republic as a “Presidential” system? By rejecting its parliamentary nature, it logically becomes impossible to properly analyse the nature of the dissolution announced.
