| Yhteenveto: | The expression ‘creative destruction’ associated with Schumpeter’s name captures the idea of a process at the origin of the economic evolution of capitalism, but its deeper meaning goes far beyond its technical use by economists. The aim of this article is to propose a deconstruction of this expression in order to bring out a meaning that goes beyond the intention of economists, but reveals at its core the unthought of capitalism, namely the sacrificial dimension of incessant innovation and its effects on the world. After presenting the issues at stake, the article moves on from a historical approach to economic thought on this notion, to an approach based on economic philosophy that relates it to the Lebensphilosophy in Schumpeter’s time, and finally develops a metaphysical approach to the sacrificial dimension of capitalism. |
