Zusammenfassung:In his writings, Pierre le Pesant de Boisguilbert (1646-1714) adopts the stance of the political prophet. After revealing the laws of the good order of Providence based on a very personal interpretation of the Scriptures, Boisguilbert explains the reasons for the ruin of Louis XIV’s kingdom. Money had become an idol, prices were out of proportion, taxes were disproportionate and the lack of circulation had condemned the kingdom of France to crisis and misfortune. General impoverishment and its desolations were the moment of a collective atonement that only a conversion and a return to the natural laws of Providence could stop. Economic analysis presented itself as a means of penetrating the ways of Divinity.
