| Sumario: | Despite its importance, the identity and activities of Morisco scribes remain an insufficiently explored issue due to the scarcity of preserved sources. This article addresses the problem by connecting various references in Aljamiado manuscripts with the case of a scribe and indoctrinator from Almonacid de la Sierra, known in inquisitorial archives, active for several decades, and condemned in 1599 by the Inquisition. The article includes in annex the views of the manuscript mentions and the transcription of this individual’s cause record, as well as those of other Moriscos detained and condemned with him. |
