| Tóm tắt: | In collective memory, the courtroom of the Troyes Assize Court symbolizes Robert Badinter’s fight against the death penalty when, on January 20, 1977, he saved Patrick Henry from capital punishment. In that same courthouse, the memory of Robert Vassart had faded, remembered only by a discreet marble plaque in an anonymous corridor. Robert Vassart, the Public Prosecutor during the German occupation, a local leader of the judicial Resistance, went into hiding in July 1944 after freeing political prisoners from the detention center. He took part in the battles for the Liberation of Paris before being appointed as the Prosecutor of the Seine. He led the Purge in the Paris region and post-war, he was committed to the establishment of an international criminal justice system. |
