| Shrnutí: | In this dialogue, we explore the intertwined intellectual paths of anthropologists Hélène and Pierre Clastres. We first look at their lives as philosophy students, their initial communist commitment, then their discovery of ethnology and their first fieldwork among the Aché people of Paraguay. The conversation then turns to the critical period of the May 1968 movement in France and the Stroessner dictatorship in Paraguay, highlighting the dynamics of the two anthropologists’ relationships with their Paraguayan colleagues and the impact of political events on their academic work. The conversation then focuses on Hélène Clastres’ research following the death of her husband, and in particular on her transition from the field of Americanist anthropology to the history of ideas and then to French ethnology. Finally, the text concludes with a critical analysis by Hélène Clastres of her own work, but above all of the current reception of Pierre Clastres’ work, which provides an original perspective on the influence and posterity of their work. |
