Samenvatting:Two fragmentary Archaic statues of lion-bearers—thus leontophoroi—were found in 2021 close to the Hellenistic through Roman temple of Zeus Lepsynos at Euromos, in Caria. One is a naked kouros and bears an inscription in Carian on the left thigh, while the other is an armored figure. Both statues were apparently reexhibited on Hellenistic bases. This article presents the context of their discovery and provides a detailed description of those two statues of a new type, complete with illustrations. These votive offerings are then compared with the closest parallels found from the East and the West, and they are finally examined within the multicultural context of ancient Caria.
