| Summary: | In December 2024, the Calvados Department was able to acquire for the departmental archives an exceptional manuscript known as the "Statutes of the Collège du Bois," now listed as 1J/909. This manuscript is part of a long history, both of the University of Caen and of its archives, from which exceptional items were removed, probably before the French Revolution and their entry into the public collections. Thanks to this acquisition, the manuscript has been reintegrated into the main collection of the Collège du Bois and the University of Caen records, held by the Archives du Calvados. Although there are still some gray areas regarding its tradition and the history of its preservation up to the present day, its rediscovery sheds new light on the history of a major institution in Caen. |
