Итог:A royal prerogative, the granting of market rights allowed a lord to organize a market once or several times per week in the town for which he had made the request. It then fell to the lord to choose a location for the event, and, if necessary, to equip it with permanent or temporary infrastructures enabling him to levy duties and regulate trading activities. Medieval records, though fairly scant on details of what the concrete and material organization of weekly markets entailed, nevertheless testify wto a well-controlled trading area in which everyone took up their respective role. The market was a space of public sociability, of public and political expression, of exercise of justice, but also a space in which deals were struck in plain sight, thus offering guarantees of legality.
