Streszczenie:The new series of the New Left Review has taken the readers by surprise, not only for the renewals in the layout after forty years, but also because of Anderson’s Renewals, introducing the new series. Marked by a somber “historical pessimism”, Anderson’s editorial is symptomatic of an intellectual mood that he himself depicted in his Considerations on Western Marxism. However what could be understood when it was “midnight in the century” is unwarranted nowadays: Anderson’s assertion that the ideology of neo-liberalism is almost unchallenged today is over-exaggerated.
