Izvleček:Starting from an analysis of the trends evident in economic indicators, the author tries to map out the restructuring of the class system currently under way within the process of globalisation. Among the features of this restructuring, one may mention the redrawing of hierarchies in the domination exercised by Capital; the decomposition of working classes, rendered vulnerable by their being placed in mutual competition; the proletarisation of a peasantry forced to convert into a wage-earning class; the destabilisation of middle and upper-echelon salary-earners subject to a process of downward dequalification. Having analysed the various "class-buffers" operating in such critical conjunctures, the author then tries to define the stakes involved, both within the nation-state and in relations between nation-states, in this new global antagonism between classes. The question also sets a challenge, in terms both of critical reflection and organisational strategies, for today's disunited salaried classes.
