Riassunto:H. van Gunsteren’s definition of citizenship as a public office that consists of dealing with plurality, is analyzed into two different perspectives: a communautarian axis (the affirmation that the principle and the end of politics is plurality) and a republican axis (the idea that, as Hannah Arendt has already argued, the public domain has to be based upon itself through symbolically determined institutions).
