الملخص:There was many similarities and differences between the Keynesian experiment in the United States and the social-democrat experiment in Sweden. Both were class compromises, the outcome of class struggles and alliances. The onsets of the two episodes coincide, and both correspond to political and economic setbacks for finance, in contrast to the earlier hegemony of finance prior to the great depression and the reassertion of conservatism after the new crisis from the 1970s onward. Both experiments were characterized by the increased role of state officials. To different extents, they also shared the rise of the Wellfare State and macro policies. Specific traits of Swedish social democracy were its workers government, its wage and employment policies, and several attempts to encroach on the prerogatives of capitalist ownership and on the control of the workplace. All these attempts eventually failed in face of the resistance of ruling classes. Thus the probabilility of a reformist path toward Socialism is again in question.
