| Résumé: | In this paper we examine the electoral behaviour of the working class, mainly in four countries with a powerful social-democracy (Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, Germany). The working class behaviour is characterized by electoral instability (Denmark, Great Brittain) as well as a weakening of its left orientation (Norway, Denmark, Great Britain). The left orientation of the working class appears to be stable only in Germany. It is concluded that primarily political factors (and especially the failure of economic leftism) are to be held responsible for the weakening of the left orientation and the electoral instability of the working class behaviour. |
