| Περίληψη: | This was not an obvious case for testing the regulation theory, as it has been initially developed to understand the crisis of advanced market economies. However this attempt generated extremely interesting results and can be considered as a successful proving ground. The regulation theory made it possible to pinpoint some specific characteristics of Soviet-type economies and has been instrumental in providing the general theoretical framework of the understanding of their economic fluctuations and ultimate crisis. Reciprocally, this attempt has highlighted some central issues for the development of the regulation theory, like the relevance of the coordination issue, the validity of the game-theory approach and interactions between economics and politics. This attempt has also highlighted some inherent contradictions linked to the 'methodological individualism assumption which is central to the regulation-convention approach; such an assumption is at least to be questioned. |
