| Sumario: | With The Political Unconscious, F. Jameson has produced a major Marxist contribution to literary criticism. Following his maxim, « Always historicize ! », Jameson defines three horizons against which an individual text must be interpreted : conjuncture (the text is a solution to a contradiction), the class-struggle (the text as a collection of ideologemes), mode of production (the text is characteristic of an ideology of form). Questions are raised about the capacity of this model to deal with language adequately. |
